Spring
Spring
Just as impressive as autumn, spring in Bright is a veritable bouquet of colour! Everything comes to life with startling clarity. Locals proudly open their garden gates to boast their colourful bounty. Snow fed creeks and rivers roar and the skies overhead are a brilliant blue. Aerial sports and taking on the rapids seem highly inviting even to the fainthearted! And, just like autumn, festivals and events abound. The Bright Spring Festival is a highlight of the season.

BRIGHT SPRING FESTIVAL
22 October – 2 November 2010 Dazzling, Delightful, Delicious A showcase festival of open gardens and a program of events to tantalise your senses this spring.
Preparations for Bright‟s dazzling Spring Festival are well underway, with a program full of delightful fun, plenty of open gardens, (including a special appearance by Angus Stewart, ABC Gardening presenter, dubbed "Doctor of the Dirt, Surgeon of the Soil, Professor of the Paddock") and delicious food and wine.
From October 22 through to November 2, there will be gardening workshops with Angus Stewart; and dinner in the evening with Angus who will share his gardening expertise. There will be a special cooking demonstration and luncheon – „Herbs & Flowers‟ with our very own Patrizia Simone, owner of the famous Simone‟s Restaurant in Bright - this is a rare opportunity, people travel far and wide to dine in their restaurant.
New in 2010, the Stitch and Quilt Exposition - a weekend of workshops, wine & laughter . Participate in classes by leading Australian tutors who will offer a wide variety of unique and complex quilts and textile craftwork, a „must-do‟ for all quilters.
The ever-popular Decorative Arts Exhibition and sales continues at the Bright Art Gallery, showcasing handmade works from many disciplines.
For the serious shopper, stick around for the Monster Rotary Market on Cup Monday, with more than two hundred stallholders selling everything from handmade jewellery to home-grown plants and other local products .
Evenings during the Spring Festival have Bright as the perfect location for authentic entertainment. Entertainments include
a Regional Arts Victoria touring play, „From Cave to Rave‟, described by the Herald Sun as „One of the best shows on offer…deserving of the wildest of applause’ a humorous look at the history of dance
a festival of film, showing three classic flicks a Yarn-Spinning night – some of Australia‟s best bush poets telling captivating stories, as well as short films and stories from local historian Andrew Swift A family fun day in the beautiful Wandiligong valley Oktoberfest And just when you thought the fun was over… there‟s the Grand Fireworks Night, with a show that just gets bigger and better every year – with live music, fairground attractions, and local food and wine producers‟ stalls. There will be easy-grade guided walks, and talks explaining the history of the area. "This is the time of year when Bright comes to life," says Maureen Beattie, the Festival‟s Director. "It‟s a time when Bright says to everybody, the winter is over, the sun is out, the flowers are blooming, come out and play!" "Savour the local food and experience the beautiful Alpine Valleys. The Bright Spring festival gives you a taste of what the North East of Victoria is all about – hospitality, food, wine and natural beauty not experienced anywhere else in Victoria.
