This park is known for its huge range of bushwalking tracks and varied activities all year round. Turn at Porepunkah roundabout to the National Park where the entry gate (fee applies) has information on all aspects of this beautiful plateau. Visit Lake Catani, The Horn and try swimming, canoeing, fishing and walking.
MT BEAUTY, FALLS CREEK & BOGONG VILLAGE

Travel south from Bright along the Great Alpine Road and turn left at Germantown Bridge climbing the Tawonga Gap. At the top there are stunning views of Mt Bogong, Victoria’s highest mountain. From here the road winds down joining the Kiewa Valley Highway. Turn right to Mt Beauty for lunch or a snack or just a look around. Continue from Mt Beauty up the road to Falls Creek, going to the Clover Arboretum (13kms from Mt Beauty) and then Bogong Village before continuing to Falls Creek
HARRIETVILLE, HOTHAM AND DINNER PLAIN

Travel south along the Great Alpine Road via Smoko (fresh farm produce including berries, eggs, veggies etc) and then through Harrietville (trout farm, lavender farm, Devonshire teas). From here the road climbs to Mt Hotham where you can take in the 360 degree views. The village of Dinner Plain with its cafes and pub is also open all year round and the unique village is something to see!
BEECHWORTH AND YACKANDANDAH
A trip to Beechworth, Yackandandah and Chiltern will give you an insight into history and art, craft and eateries galore.
MYRTLEFORD AND LAKE BUFFALO
Perfect place for a picnic! Travel along the Great Alpine Road and stop off for supplies on the way! Try a berry treat, wine or a bakery delight. Look out for the rose farm and deer and emu farm at Eurobin on the way home.
GREAT ALPINE ROAD LOOPS
The Great Alpine Rd is a fully sealed and signed road from Wangaratta to Bairnsdale. Rather than just travelling through you can explore the area by driving some of the scenic drives that take you to the surrounding countryside and then back to the Great Alpine Road. Use Bright as a base to explore the whole of the Great Alpine Road region. Try the Discovery Drive, Mt Buffalo Drive, Golden Heritage Drive
BOGONG HIGH PLAINS ROAD
(Chains required from Mt Beauty onwards in snow season – road closed beyond Falls Ck during winter)
This trip takes you across into the Kiewa Valley via Mt Beauty, then up the Bogong High Plains Rd to Bogong Village and Falls Creek. This adventurous route takes you through Alpine National Park to Omeo. The road is good and now sealed from Falls Creek to the Omeo Highway. Take time to look around Omeo. Lots of ‘Gold’ history. The trip from Omeo to Bright travels through the Alpine High Country via Dinner Plain and Mt Hotham, returning via Harrietville and the Ovens Valley.
